Color Spectrum Polish – TWERK Collection | Swatch and Review

Today’s blog post features the new TWERK collection by Color Spectrum Polish! This is a 4 piece collection that was inspired by Shannon’s (owner/maker) love for dancing! Not to spoil it but I really loved the inspiration for this collection and the polishes were fantastic. This collection is available now on both the Color Spectrum website and Etsy pages. I will have links to where you can purchase these at the end of this post!

In case you haven’t heard of this brand before, Color Spectrum Polish is an indie nail polish brand based in the US. Their polishes are handmade, 7 free, vegan and cruelty free. This brand also has an amazing lip balm! The owner, Shannon is a real sweetheart and I am happy to say I am a full time swatcher for this brand!

Disclaimer: I was sent these products as PR in exchange for photographs and an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own. My photos were taken indoors with daylight/LED bulbs and outdoors in natural light. I use the KB Shimmer Clearly On Top glossy top coat, Glisten & Glow Glitter Grabber (for glitter polishes) and the Glisten & Glow Matte top coat for my photos.

Baby Got Back

Inspiration: The Sir Mix-a-lot song (and crashing her car dancing to it!)
Description: a beautiful brown has lots of copper shimmer, brown to gold to green shifting flakies and lime to gold shifting hex glitters
Price: $9

Baby Got Back had a lovely jelly formula that was on the thinner side of normal. It was sheer on the first coat so this could be used as a topper. (I put 1 coat on a black swatch stick and it looked really pretty.) The flakies and shimmer look really gorgeous paired with this base color. My love for brown polishes seems to have carried over from the fall because I still can’t get enough of them! This shade of brown I would call a toasty or semi-sweet chocolate brown. I used 3 coats for my photos.

Note: I have a bit of VNL where my clear acrylic starts but I don’t think that will be an issue for natural nails.

Miss Booty

Inspiration: Shannon’s nickname in her dance class
Description: a gorgeous pink loaded to the brim with pink holo glitters, pink microflakies, pink iridescent flakies and copper to gold to fuchsia ucc flakies.
Price: $9

Miss Booty was a little sheer on the first coat but it built up really nicely. The ucc flakies give it a shifty shimmer like effect on the nail. This polish was just so stunning in person, I don’t think I truly captured how great this one is! It’s really sparkly and the most holographic out of all of the polishes. I have some videos of it on my Instagram story (after today it will be in highlights under behind the scenes). I used 3 coats for my photos.\

Shake It Like A Salt Shaker

Inspiration: The Ying-Yang Twins music video for Salt Shaker
Description: a fire engine red with holo glitters, copper sparks and loaded with red hex glitters!
Price: $9

Shake It Like A Salt Shaker had really smooth even coverage on the first coat. This is a true fire engine red. I feel like some of my photos pulled a little orange but this is a true fire engine red. Sparkly reds are my favorite type of reds and this is gorgeous! I used 2 coats for my photos.

Note: I found this one really interesting component wise. I had the description while I was swatching it so I knew what I was supposed to be seeing but in person, I was having a hard time deciding what I was seeing besides beautiful sparkles with a delicate holo sparkle. It’s sparkly from what I assume are the copper sparks and depending on lighting give it a warm almost color shifting glow.

TWERK

Inspiration: the crown worn by a twerk queen!
Description: A perfect gold shimmer loaded with gold sparkles, rainbow crystal chameleon flakies and orange to pink to gold shifting flakies.
Price:  $9

TWERK had a great formula with really even coverage that applied very smoothly. It wasn’t thick or thin. It did apply just a hair on the sheer side. I think it might be too dense to use as a topper without obscuring the base color. Twerk is officially my new favorite gold polish! It’s really gorgeous. It is a little on the sheer side but it builds up nicely. I did have some VNL on some angle. I used 3 coats for my photos.

Final Thoughts

All in all this was a fabulous collection! If it wasn’t already clear, they all had great formulas. I loved all of the inspirations for each polish (kinda hard for me not to love things themed for those of us were teenagers in the early 2000s). I liked all of these but my personal favorites were Miss Booty (cause it’s gorgeous and pink) and Baby Got Back (also because it’s gorgeous) with TWERK getting a special mention because it’s my new favorite gold polish.

This comparison is of Shake It Like A Salt Shaker and Staying Up Late For Santa (Christmas/Holiday release). While these are both red, I’d say SULFS is a Christmas red and SILASS is more of a non-seasonal specific red. The components in both are different so these aren’t dupes or similar outside of being the color red. SILASS is also more opaque of the two.
