So happy to finally be getting this blog post up! I originally intended for this blog post to go up before Black Friday but better late than never.. right? Right! Anyway, today’s blog post features some Christmas and New Years releases by Color Spectrum Polish. These are all currently available on the Color Spectrum Polish website and Etsy pages. I will have links at the end of this post.
In case you haven’t heard of this brand before, Color Spectrum Polish is an indie nail polish brand based in the US. Their polishes are handmade, 7 free, vegan and cruelty free. This brand also has an amazing lip balm! The owner, Shannon is a real sweetheart and I am happy to say I am a full time swatcher for this brand!
Disclaimer: I was sent these products in exchange for photos and a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own. My photos were taken indoors with daylight LED bulbs and outdoors in natural light. I used the KB Shimmer Clearly On Top glossy top coat and the Glisten & Glow matte top coat for my photos.
Let’s Make 2021 A Good One
Description: A deep purple loaded with purple to gold shifting aurora shimmer, pink microflakies and green to gold to blue ucc flakies

Let’s Make 2021 A Good One had a really great formula. I didn’t have any application issues. I really loved the way this polish looked! The base paired with the components was just perfect! I was a little rusty on using magnetics when I swatched this but it was very easy to use. I held the bar magnet over each nail for 45-60 seconds on the final coat to get the magnetic effect. The line stayed really crisp after top coating. I will not that I forgot to hold the magnet over the nail after I used the matte top coat so it blurred a bit. I used 3 coats for my photos.
Picking Out A Christmas Tree
Description: An evergreen base with a glowing green shimmer and scattered holo microflakies

Picking Out A Christmas Tree had a fantastic formula! It applied very smoothly and was the most opaque out of all of the polishes in this release. It was *very* slightly brush strokey but I’d say like 95% of the brush strokes disappear once dried. The shimmer also seemed just a touch like a metallic or even duo chrome? I swear I was seeing an almost teal shift in person but that might have just been lighting since I don’t see it in any of my photos. The microflakies didn’t give off any noticeable texture after top coating. I used 2 coats for my photos. Easy removal (no scrubbing) with acetone
Sprinkle Some Holiday Spirit
Description: A sheer silver topper with silver glitter, green mosaic glass hex glitter and metallic red glitter dots!

Sprinkle Some Holiday Spirit had a great formula. The smaller glitters spread out easily and evenly without manipulation. I did find that the larger red glitters required some fishing as they weren’t as abundant as the smaller glitters. The green glass hex glitters have some transparency to them and seem to get lost over darker base colors. The larger red glitters do give off some texture so I used 2 coats of top coat to smooth those out.
I decided to try swatching this over a variety of colors. I used 1 coat over black (Heather’s Hues Shadow), 1 coat over gold (Zoya’s Ziv), 1 coat over Picking Out A Christmas Tree and 3 coats by itself. In the end, I think I like this on it’s own and over green the most. Over green, the green glitters do get lost though.
Staying Up Late For Santa
Description: A bright red loaded with red shimmer, red microflakies, red holo glitter and a sprinkling of gold shimmer!

Staying Up Late For Santa has a great jelly like formula. It applies very smoothly and the components didn’t give off any noticeable texture. This was super sparkly and screams Christmas nails to me. I think this would have a hint of VNL on natural nails. On my acrylic, it was more prounounced. My photos show it in 3 coats. The coverage was good in 2 coats but it wasn’t quite the color in the bottle. The third coat deepens the color and adds opacity.
Comparisons
I have a few recent releases from Color Spectrum that are not really similar to these, but have been posted on the blog that I thought people might like to see in case they have purchased already. I compared the green from this collection to the Le Petite Indies collab exclusive, Holo-Day Magic. Both are holiday/winter greens but not similar in finish. I also compared the red from this collection to Halle Did Her Berry Best (November 2020 Polish Pickup). Both are holiday/Christmas reds but not in the same shade or similar finish. So no dupes and not really similar in finish. (Note: the glass cabachons do not come with these polishes. I add those on to my bottles so I can find things easily in my helmers)
Final Thoughts
This is release has some really cool finishes! I really liked the color story and how the polishes look like a cohesive collection. From the Holiday trio, Picking Out A Christmas Tree was my favorite but I really loved the New Years magnetic polish! Let’s Make… was just so fun to wear and the magnetic effect had really cool color shifts that made picking my final photos difficult. My top pick kinda surprised me! I usually don’t care for magnetics because of the extra work involved (yes I can be lazy at times) but for this polish, totally worth it. So those would be my personal favorites from this release.
