[Paid PR – Post Disclosure Page]

Hello friends! Today’s blog post is for the newest release by Bee’s Knees Lacquer. This month the inspiration for the collection is American Horror Story: Red Tide. This release will launch on October 29th.

Along with the collection, I also have some requested comparisons as well as a few polishes that will be restocked this month. As always, sale details and comparisons will be at the end of the post.

Cape Fear

Description: a pastel blue to purple multichrome with dark gold holo microglitter
Price: $12

Cape Fear had an amazing fomrula. This is a very dense full coverage microglitter. The multichrome base is very color shifty and paired with the microglitter, gives a strong shimmer-like effect on the nail. I found the microglitters dry down fairly smooth.

This will likely be a 2-3 coater depending on personal preference. I found the glitters covered up my nail line very nicely in 2 coats but I had just a slight hint of VNL. So my photos show this polish in 3 coats. Cape Fear dries down pretty dull so you will want top coat for a glossy finish.

Removal will be difficult and messy due to the amount of glitters. I would recommend using a peel off base coat or soaking this off for the easiest removal. Click here for my How To Remove Glitter Polish The EASY Way! blog post.

My Muse

Description: a rich, dark brown with glowy aqua to purple shimmer
Price: $12

My Muse had a really great formula. I found the shimmer in this to be so strong that it almost hides the base color. In person, I was seeing an aqua to blue to purple color shift. I was not seeing any brush strokes.

This starts off pretty sheer so you will want to build it up for opacity. In 3 coats I had a *tiny* amount of VNL but the shimmer largely distracts from it.

Red Tide

Description: a deep turquoise with rich pink to green shimmer
Price: $12

Red Tide had a fantastic formula. It applied buttery smooth and I didn’t have any application problems. I found the shimmer shifts magneta, pink, gold to green. The base color is exactly as described.

This polish has great coverage in 2 coats however, to get the color you see in the bottle as well as to cover VNL you will want to go in for 3 coats. This polish is very pigmented so I would reccomend doubling up on base coat if your nails are prone to staining. I didn’t expereince any staining.

 So Much

Description: a deep olive green with black to red multichrome shimmer
Price: $13

So Much had a fantastic formula. The dark olive green base looks amazing paired with the multichrome shimmer. I found that the shimmer makes this a very unique looking polish. I was seeing all of the described colors in person however, the main colors that I was seeing were red to gold.

This had great coverage in 2 coats however to get the color you see in the bottle, you will want to go in for 3 coats.

Tell Me About Your Dreams

Description: mid-toned purple with bright blue shimmer
Price: $12

Tell Me About Your Dreams had a great formula. It didn’t feel overly thick or thin and I didn’t have any application issues. I found the base color is a reddish almost berry toned purple. The blue shimmer is STRONG and doesn’t show any brush strokes.

I found in 3 coats, this polish wasn’t quite the color that I was seeing in the bottle. This looks a lot darker in the bottle than it does on the nail. I would assume, if you used thicker coats or even a 4th coat that would deepen the color. However, this still looked fantastic in 3 coats.

I thought for sure this was going to be a stainer but I didn’t have any problems with staining.

Thirst

Description: a jewel-toned violet with deep copper to gold shimmer
Price: $12

Thirst had a great formula. The description is spot on, this is a jewel toned violet shade. I found the shimmer to be very strong and that it appeared to shift from a pinkish color to a gold.

Like a few of the other polishes in this release, it has great coverage in 2 coats but to get the color you see in the bottle, you will want to use 3 coats. My photos show it in 3 coats.

Be sure to double up on base coat with this polish if you have an overlay. This stained my gel overlay purple. My natural nails weren’t affected.

The Price of Being the Greatest

Description: a blackened indigo with deep cobalt flakes
Price: $12.50

The Price of Being the Greatest had a really great formula. The base color is a very dark blue toned indigo. The flakes vary in size so you might get out a couple of the larger ones on the nail. If that is the case, I found that they didn’t dry textured.

If you want the deep color that you see in the bottle, this will be a 3 coater. It applied very evenly so you could get away with 2 coats. This polish won’t be overly difficult to remove and I didn’t experience any stianing.

 To Finding My Destiny

Description: a plummy taupe with glowy purple flakes
Price: $12.50

To Finding My Destiny had a really great formula. This felt just slightly on the thinner side of normal but I didn’t have any application issues. The base color is a purple with a hint of a greyish tone to it. The flakes are in various sizes with a small scattering of large flakes. They do not dry textured.

This applies like a jelly so you will want to build it up for opacity. I found in 3 coats, it was still on the sheerer side. I had some VNL with it.

You’re Not Human

Description: a burgundy tinted pastel multichrome that shifts green to pink with black to red multichrome flakes
Price: $13

You’re Not Human had a fantastic formula. The burgundy base plays so beautifully with this multichrome pigment! In person, I was seeing a blue to green to pink color shift. The flakes also give this a reddish toned color shift.

This will be a 2-3 coater depending on personal preference and potentially nail length. I used 3 coats for my photos.

Final Thoughts

I’m sure it’s no surprise that I really loved this collection. It’s been a hot minute since I watched AMH but this made me want to get back into it. I thought the color story for this release was beautiful and the variety of finishes made me very happy. My top picks are Cape Fear, Red Tide, So Much and You’re Not Human.

Comparisons

The Price Of Being the Greatest vs One One Human Alcohol Beer Please

One Human Alcohol Beer Please was in the What We Do In The Shadows collection

Murderous Little Creatures vs You’re Not Human

Murderous Little Creature was in the From Blood And Ash Part 1 collection.

And because I was curious, I also wanted to compare You’re Not Human and Murderous Little Creatures with Heartmates (From Blood And Ash) and Go Ahead And Laugh (October 2021 Hella Handmade Creations).

Witch Children? vs One Human Alcohol Beer Please

This comparison was recommended over on my YouTube channel. One Human Alcohol Beer Please was in the What We Do In The Shadows collection. I was really shocked at how similar the two of these were! In person, you can see the color difference best on the first coat. I found that they are both such dark colors paired with the blueish flakies, after 2 coats, they’re nearly identical. You will likely only see a slight color difference in the base on the nail.
